Privacy Policy

What this site is

TakeHomeVisa (this site) is an independent, ad-supported resource providing tax and immigration-fee information tools. This policy explains what data is collected when you use the site and why.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs

The salary, filing status, visa type, state, and date fields you enter into our calculators are processed entirely in your browser. This site does not transmit, store, or log the specific numbers you type into any calculator on our servers.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand overall traffic patterns (which pages are visited, how long, from which country) in aggregate. This does not include the contents of any calculator you filled in — only that you visited the page.

Advertising

This site displays ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can review and adjust your ad personalization settings at Google Ads Settings, and learn more about how Google uses data at Google's Partner Sites policy.

Contact form / email

If you email us, we receive whatever information you choose to include in that email (your address, message content). We use this only to respond to your inquiry and do not sell or share it with third parties.

Cookies and consent

This site uses cookies set by Google Analytics and Google AdSense as described above. To determine which consent rules apply to you, we use a one-time IP address lookup (via ipapi.co) on your first visit to estimate your country — this lookup happens before any consent decision, is used only to route you to the correct experience below, and your IP is not stored by us afterward.

If you're located in the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland: a consent banner asks whether you accept non-essential (analytics/advertising) cookies before anything loads. If you decline, we don't load Google Analytics or personalized-ad scripts for your visit — the calculators themselves work identically either way, since their logic runs in your browser and needs no cookies.

If you're located elsewhere (including the US and Canada): analytics and ads load by default, consistent with the opt-out model most other jurisdictions use. You can decline or change your choice at any time using the "Cookie Preferences" link in the site footer.

Under the EU/UK GDPR, our legal basis for non-essential cookies is your consent, given through the banner described above; for basic site functionality (like remembering your consent choice itself), our basis is legitimate interest in operating the site. Under the CCPA/CPRA, we do not sell your personal information for money; using the "Cookie Preferences" link to decline opts you out of what CCPA/CPRA classifies as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data (for example, under the UK/EU GDPR or various US state privacy laws including the CCPA/CPRA). Because this site does not create user accounts or store calculator inputs, there is generally no personal profile of you for us to provide or delete beyond what Google's services independently retain — you can manage that directly through Google's own privacy controls. EU/UK visitors additionally have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority. For anything else, contact us using the details on our Contact page.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the services it relies on change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
